About that time John the Baptist began preaching in the desert area of Judea.
John the Baptist is the one Isaiah the prophet was talking about when he said: "This is a voice of one who calls out in the desert: 'Prepare the way for the Lord. Make the road straight for him.'"
Then the Spirit led Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the devil.
As John's followers were leaving, Jesus began talking to the people about John. Jesus said, "What did you go out into the desert to see? A reedn blown by the wind?
When Jesus heard what had happened to John, he left in a boat and went to a lonely place by himself. But the crowds heard about it and followed him on foot from the towns.
When it was evening, his followers came to him and said, "No one lives in this place, and it is already late. Send the people away so they can go to the towns and buy food for themselves."
Now your house will be left completely empty
"If people tell you, 'The Christ is in the desert,' don't go there. If they say, 'The Christ is in the inner room,' don't believe it.
