Jeremiah 24:10

10 I will send war, hunger and plague against them. They will be destroyed from the land I gave them and their people of long ago.' "

Jeremiah 24:10 Meaning and Commentary

Jeremiah 24:10

And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence,
among them
Meaning not in other lands, where they should be driven, but while in their own land, by which many should perish; and the rest that escaped these dreadful judgments should be carried captive. The Targum is,

``I will send those that kill with the sword''
till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to
their fathers;
so that none of them should be left there to inhabit it, which is now their case; and it is an aggravation of their calamity and punishment, that they are no more the inhabitants of that good land, which was God's gift to them, and to their fathers before them.

Jeremiah 24:10 In-Context

8 " 'But there are also figs that are not very good. In fact, they are so bad they can't be eaten,' says the Lord. 'Zedekiah, the king of Judah, is like those bad figs. So are his officials and the people of Jerusalem who are still left alive. I will punish them whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt.
9 " 'I will make all of the kingdoms on earth displeased with them. In fact, they will hate them a great deal. They will laugh and joke about them. They will call down curses on them. All of that will happen no matter where I force them to go.
10 I will send war, hunger and plague against them. They will be destroyed from the land I gave them and their people of long ago.' "
