34 He spoke, and the locusts came. There were so many of them they couldn't be counted.

Psalms 105:34 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 105:34

He spake, and the locusts came
A great army of them, and covered the land, that it was even darkened by them; and were such as had never been seen before, or ever were since; this is the eighth plague, ( Exodus 10:12-14 ) , with these compare the locusts in ( Revelation 9:3 Revelation 9:4 ) .

And caterpillars, and that without number;
of these no mention is made in Exodus; they seem to be one of the kinds of locusts, or a different word is here used for the same, and so Kimchi interprets it; some render it the white locust; it has its name from licking up the herbs and grass of the field; as the other name for the locust seems to be taken from its great abundance and increase.

Psalms 105:34 In-Context

32 He turned their rain into hail. Lightning flashed all through their land.
33 He destroyed their vines and fig trees. He broke down the trees in Egypt.
34 He spoke, and the locusts came. There were so many of them they couldn't be counted.
35 They ate up every green thing in the land. They ate up what the land produced.
36 Then he killed the oldest son of every family in Egypt. He struck down the oldest of all of their sons.
