Psalms 50:11

11 I own every bird in the mountains. The creatures of the field belong to me.

Psalms 50:11 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 50:11

I know all the fowls of the mountains
God not only knows them, but takes care of them; not a sparrow fails to the ground without his knowledge, and all the fowls of the air are fed by him, ( Matthew 10:29 ) ( 6:26 ) ; and therefore needed not their turtledoves and young pigeons, which were the only fowls used in sacrifice;

and the wild beasts of the field [are] mine;
which are mentioned in opposition to domestic ones, such as they had in their houses or folds, ( Psalms 50:9 ) .

Psalms 50:11 In-Context

9 I don't need a bull from your barn. I don't need goats from your pens.
10 Every animal in the forest already belongs to me. And so do the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I own every bird in the mountains. The creatures of the field belong to me.
12 If I were hungry, I wouldn't tell you. The world belongs to me. And so does everything in it.
13 Do I eat the meat of bulls? Do I drink the blood of goats?
