Deuteronomy 5:32

32 You must therefore be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn to the right or to the left.

Deuteronomy 5:32 Meaning and Commentary

Deuteronomy 5:32

Ye shall observe to do therefore as the Lord your God doth
command you
Observe every precept, as to matter and manner, which the Lord has commanded, and that under a sense of the great obligations laid on them by him, in giving them freely so good a land to possess:

you shall not turn to the right hand or to the left;
but walk in the way of the commandments of God, and not depart from them at all, but follow the Lord in his own ways fully. The phrase is expressive of a strict and close attention to the word of God, without deviating from it in the least; for every sin, which is a transgression of some command of God or another, is a going out of the way that directs unto; see ( Isaiah 30:21 ) .

Deuteronomy 5:32 In-Context

30 Go say to them, "Return to your tents.'
31 But you, stand here by me, and I will tell you all the commandments, the statutes and the ordinances, that you shall teach them, so that they may do them in the land that I am giving them to possess."
32 You must therefore be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn to the right or to the left.
33 You must follow exactly the path that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you are to possess.
