Ezekiel 32:6

6 I will drench the land with your flowing blood up to the mountains, and the watercourses will be filled with you.

Ezekiel 32:6 Meaning and Commentary

Ezekiel 32:6

And I will also water with thy blood the land wherewith thou
swimmest
Where he resided, over which he ruled; alluding to his being compared to a fish, a whale, or a crocodile; and which land abounded with all good things, and he with them; instead of being watered with the waters of the Nile, by which it became fruitful, it should now be flooded with the blood of his army: even to the mountains;
an hyperbolical expression, signifying the vast quantity of blood that should be shed; see the like in ( Revelation 14:20 ) : and the rivers shall be full of them;
of the carcasses of his army, and of the blood of them; they should lie about everywhere, on mountains and valleys, on the land and in the rivers; and which should now be turned into blood, as the rivers of Egypt of old were; and which figure is used to express the destruction of the antichristian states; see ( Exodus 7:20 ) ( Revelation 16:3 Revelation 16:4 ) .

Ezekiel 32:6 In-Context

4 I will throw you on the ground, on the open field I will fling you, and will cause all the birds of the air to settle on you, and I will let the wild animals of the whole earth gorge themselves with you.
5 I will strew your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your carcass.
6 I will drench the land with your flowing blood up to the mountains, and the watercourses will be filled with you.
7 When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens, and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.
8 All the shining lights of the heavens I will darken above you, and put darkness on your land, says the Lord God.
