Nehemiah 9:33

33 You have been just in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully and we have acted wickedly;

Nehemiah 9:33 Meaning and Commentary

Nehemiah 9:33

Howbeit, thou art just in all that is brought upon us
They own the justice of God, could not complain of any wrong done them; and had he shown them no mercy at all, it was but what they deserved:

for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly;
he had done according to the truth of his word of promise, he had faithfully kept it, but they had transgressed his righteous law.

Nehemiah 9:33 In-Context

31 Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.
32 "Now therefore, our God—the great and mighty and awesome God, keeping covenant and steadfast love—do not treat lightly all the hardship that has come upon us, upon our kings, our officials, our priests, our prophets, our ancestors, and all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria until today.
33 You have been just in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully and we have acted wickedly;
34 our kings, our officials, our priests, and our ancestors have not kept your law or heeded the commandments and the warnings that you gave them.
35 Even in their own kingdom, and in the great goodness you bestowed on them, and in the large and rich land that you set before them, they did not serve you and did not turn from their wicked works.
