Numbers 28:4 Meaning and Commentary

Numbers 28:4

The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning
Every morning, to make atonement for the sins of the night, as the Targum of Jonathan:

and the other lamb shall thou offer at even;
or "between the two evenings", to make atonement for the sins of the day, as the same Targum; in which they prefigured Christ, the Lamb of God, who continually, every day, morning and night, and every moment, takes away the sins of his people, through the virtue and efficacy of his sacrifice, ( John 1:29 ) , (See Gill on Exodus 29:39).

Numbers 28:4 In-Context

2 Command the Israelites, and say to them: My offering, the food for my offerings by fire, my pleasing odor, you shall take care to offer to me at its appointed time.
3 And you shall say to them, This is the offering by fire that you shall offer to the Lord: two male lambs a year old without blemish, daily, as a regular offering.
4 One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight;
5 also one-tenth of an ephah of choice flour for a grain offering, mixed with one-fourth of a hin of beaten oil.
6 It is a regular burnt offering, ordained at Mount Sinai for a pleasing odor, an offering by fire to the Lord.
