Deuteronomy 19:18

And the judges shall make diligent inquisition
Into the case before them, into the nature of the evidence and proof that each witness brings for or against; so the Targum of Jonathan,

``the judges shall interrogate the witness, by whom these things are said, well;''

shall thoroughly examine the testimony given, and look carefully into it:

and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified
falsely against his brother;
it appears plainly by full evidence that he has testified a falsehood of him.

16 »Si un testigo falso acusa a alguien de un crimen,

17 las dos personas involucradas en la disputa se presentarán ante el SEÑOR, en presencia de los sacerdotes y de los jueces que estén en funciones.

18 Los jueces harán una investigación minuciosa, y si comprueban que el testigo miente y que es falsa la declaración que ha dado contra su hermano,

19 entonces le harán a él lo mismo que se proponía hacerle a su hermano. Así extirparás el mal que haya en medio de ti.

20 Y cuando todos los demás oigan esto, tendrán temor y nunca más se hará semejante maldad en el país.
