14 Entonces el SEÑOR me dijo:«Desde el norte se derramará la calamidad sobre todos los habitantes del país.

Jeremiah 1:14

Then the Lord said unto me
Explaining the above vision: out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of
the land;
that is, out of Babylon, which lay north, as Jarchi says, and so the Talmud ^F20; or north east, as Kimchi and Ben Melech, to the land of Israel; from hence came Nebuchadnezzar and his army, which are meant by "the evil" that should break forth, or "be opened" ^F21 and loosed, which before were bound and hindered by the providence of God; see ( Revelation 9:14 ) and come upon all the inhabitants of the land of Israel; and who are signified by the boiling pot to the north; or, however, by the fire under it, which came from thence; for rather by the pot is meant Jerusalem; and, by the boiling of it, its destruction by the Chaldeans; see ( Ezekiel 11:3 Ezekiel 11:7 ) ( 24:3 ) .

12 «Has visto bien —dijo el SEÑOR—, porque yo estoy alerta para que se cumpla mi palabra».

13 La palabra del SEÑOR vino a mí por segunda vez, y me dijo:«¿Qué es lo que ves?»«Veo una olla que hierve y se derrama desde el norte», respondí.

14 Entonces el SEÑOR me dijo:«Desde el norte se derramará la calamidad sobre todos los habitantes del país.

15 Yo estoy por convocar a todas las tribus de los reinos del norte —afirma el SEÑOR—.»Vendrán, y cada uno pondrá su tronoa la entrada misma de Jerusalén;vendrán contra todos los muros que la rodean,y contra todas las ciudades de Judá.

16 Yo dictaré sentencia contra mi pueblo,por toda su maldad,porque me han abandonado;han quemado incienso a otros dioses,y han adorado las obras de sus manos.
