King James Version (KJV) New International Version (NIV)
For even hereunto were ye called : because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 22 "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
Who, when he was reviled , reviled not again ; when he suffered , he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we , being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed . 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
For ye were as sheep going astray ; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
