13 Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? 13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good?
14 But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don't be afraid and don't worry. 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened."
15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. 15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
16 But you must do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak evil against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ. 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
17 Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong! 17 It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
18 Christ also suffered when he died for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners that he might bring us safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit. 18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
