1 Timothy 2:1-8

NCV

NIV

1 First, I tell you to pray for all people, asking God for what they need and being thankful to him.
1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—
2 Pray for rulers and for all who have authority so that we can have quiet and peaceful lives full of worship and respect for God.
2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
3 This is good, and it pleases God our Savior,
3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,
4 who wants all people to be saved and to know the truth.
4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
5 There is one God and one way human beings can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who is himself human.
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,
6 He gave himself as a payment to free all people. He is proof that came at the right time.
6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
7 That is why I was chosen to tell the Good News and to be an apostle. (I am telling the truth; I am not lying.) I was chosen to teach those who are not Jews to believe and to know the truth.
7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying—and a true and faithful teacher of the Gentiles.
8 So, I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up their hands in a holy manner, without anger and arguments.
8 Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
