In the second year of Israel's King Pekah son of Remaliah, Jotham son of Uzziah became king of Judah. 32 In the second year of Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel, Jotham son of Uzziah king of Judah began to reign.
He was 25 years old when he became king; he reigned 16 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok. 33 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.
He did what was right in the Lord's sight just as his father Uzziah had done. 34 He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done.
Yet, the high places were not taken away; the people continued sacrificing and burning incense on the high places. It was Jotham who built the Upper Gate of the Lord's temple. 35 The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there. Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the LORD.
The rest of the events of Jotham's [reign], along with all his accomplishments, are written about in the Historical Record of Judah's Kings. 36 As for the other events of Jotham's reign, and what he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
In those days the Lord began sending Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah. 37 (In those days the LORD began to send Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.)
Jotham rested with his fathers, and he was buried with his fathers in the city of his ancestor David. His son Ahaz became king in his place. 38 Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried with them in the City of David, the city of his father. And Ahaz his son succeeded him as king.
