New Revised Standard (NRS) New International Version (NIV)
His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, you must make every effort to support your faith with goodness, and goodness with knowledge, 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with endurance, and endurance with godliness, 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
and godliness with mutual affection, and mutual affection with love. 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
For if these things are yours and are increasing among you, they keep you from being ineffective and unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
For anyone who lacks these things is nearsighted and blind, and is forgetful of the cleansing of past sins. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election, for if you do this, you will never stumble. 10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,
For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you. 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
