Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
"And then when all of these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set {before you} {and you call them to mind} among the nations there where Yahweh your God [has] scattered you, 1 When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come upon you and you take them to heart wherever the LORD your God disperses you among the nations,
and you return to Yahweh and you listen to his voice according to all that I am commanding you {today}, [both] you and your children, with all your heart and with all your inner self, 2 and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today,
and Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes, and he will have compassion [upon] you, and {he will again gather you together} from all the peoples where Yahweh your God scattered you there. 3 then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where he scattered you.
"[Even] if {you are outcasts} at the end of the heavens, [even] from there Yahweh your God shall gather you, and from there {he shall bring you back}. 4 Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the LORD your God will gather you and bring you back.
And Yahweh your God will bring you to the land that your ancestors had taken possession of, and he will make you successful, and he will make you more numerous than your ancestors. 5 He will bring you to the land that belonged to your fathers, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.
"And Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self {so that you may live}. 6 The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.
And Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and {on those who hate you}, [on] {those who harassed you}. 7 The LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you.
And {you will again listen} to the voice of Yahweh, and you will do all his commandments that I [am] commanding you {today}. 8 You will again obey the LORD and follow all his commands I am giving you today.
And Yahweh your God will make you prosperous {in all your undertakings}, and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground {abundantly}, for Yahweh {will again rejoice} over you, [just] as he rejoiced over your ancestors. 9 Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your fathers,
[He will do this] if you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandment and his statutes written in the scroll of this law [and] if you return to Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your inner self. 10 if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
"For this commandment that I [am] commanding you {today} [is] {not too wonderful for you}, and it [is] not [too] far [from you]. 11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.
It is not in the heavens {so that you might say}, 'Who will go up for us to the heavens and get it for us and cause us to hear it, so that we may do it?' 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"
And [it is] {not beyond the sea}, {so that you might say}, 'Who will cross for us to the other side of the sea and take it for us and cause us to hear it, so that we may do it?' 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, "Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"
But the word is very near you, [even] in your mouth and in your heart, {so that you may do it}. 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.
"See, I am setting {before you} {today} life and prosperity and death and disaster; 15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.
what I am commanding you {today} [is] to love Yahweh your God by going in his ways and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his regulations, and then you will live, and you will become numerous, and Yahweh your God will bless you in the {land where you are going}. 16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
However, if your heart turns aside and you [do] not listen and you are lured away and you bow down to other gods and you serve them, 17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,
I declare to you {today} that you will certainly perish; {you will not extend your time} on the land that you are crossing the Jordan to go there to take possession of it. 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
I invoke as a witness against you {today} the heaven and the earth: life and death I have set {before you}, blessing and curse. So choose life, so that you may live, you and your offspring, 19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
by loving Yahweh your God by listening to his voice and by clinging to him, for he [is] your life and the length of your days [in order for you] to live on the land that Yahweh swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them." 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
