1 Here is the story of Shem, Ham and Japheth. They were Noah's sons. After the flood, they too had sons. 1 This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, who themselves had sons after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras. 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras.
3 The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah. 3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah.

5 The people who lived by the sea came from all of them. Their tribes and nations spread out into their own territories. Each tribe and nation had its own language. 5 (From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.)
6 The sons of Ham were Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan. 6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan.
7 The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan. 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
8 Cush was the father of Nimrod. Nimrod grew up to be a mighty hero on the earth. 8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth.
9 He was a mighty hunter in the LORD's eyes. That's why people sometimes compare others with Nimrod. They say, "They are like Nimrod, who is a mighty hunter in the LORD's eyes." 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; that is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD."
10 At first Nimrod's kingdom was made up of Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh. Those cities were in the land of Babylonia. 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh, in Shinar.

21 Sons were also born to Shem. Shem was Japheth's younger brother. All of the sons of Eber came from Shem. 21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.
