The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
And Jehovah said to Noah, Go into the ark, thou and all thy house; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 1 The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.
Of all clean beasts thou shalt take to thee by sevens, a male and its female; but of the beasts that are not clean two, a male and its female. 2 Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate,
Also of the fowl of the heavens by sevens, male and female; to keep seed alive on the face of all the earth. 3 and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.
For in yet seven days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living being which I have made will I destroy from the ground. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made."
And Noah did according to all that Jehovah had commanded him. 5 And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.
And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was on the earth. 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth.
And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.
Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowl, and of everything that creeps on the ground, 8 Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground,
there came two and two unto Noah into the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.
And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth. 10 And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month--on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened.
And the pour of rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.
On the same day went Noah, and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; 13 On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.
they, and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and all fowl after its kind -- every bird of every wing. 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings.
And they went to Noah, into the ark, two and two of all flesh, in which was the breath of life. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark.
And they that came, came male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him. And Jehovah shut him in. 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.
And the flood was forty days on the earth. And the waters increased, and bore up the ark; and it was lifted up above the earth. 17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth.
And the waters prevailed and increased greatly on the earth; and the ark went on the face of the waters. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water.
And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth; and all the high mountains that are under all the heavens were covered. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.
Fifteen cubits upward the waters prevailed; and the mountains were covered. 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet.
And all flesh that moved on the earth expired, fowl as well as cattle, and beasts, and all crawling things which crawl on the earth, and all mankind: 21 Every living thing that moved on the earth perished--birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.
everything which had in its nostrils the breath of life, of all that was on the dry [land], died. 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died.
And every living being was destroyed that was on the ground, both man, and cattle, and creeping things, and fowl of the heavens; and they were destroyed from the earth. And Noah alone remained, and what was with him in the ark. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.
And the waters prevailed on the earth a hundred and fifty days. 24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.
