When He came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. 1 When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.
Right away a man with a serious skin disease came up and knelt before Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
Reaching out His hand He touched him, saying, "I am willing; be made clean." Immediately his disease was healed. 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.
Then Jesus told him, "See that you don't tell anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses prescribed, as a testimony to them." 4 Then Jesus said to him, "See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
When He entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.
"Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible agony!" 6 "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."
"I will come and heal him," He told him. 7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."
"Lord," the centurion replied, "I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be cured. 8 The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command. I say to this one, 'Go!' and he goes; and to another, 'Come!' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it." 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those following Him, "I assure you: I have not found anyone in Israel with so great a faith! 10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.
I tell you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Then Jesus told the centurion, "Go. As you have believed, let it be done for you." And his servant was cured that very moment. 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.
When Jesus went into Peter's house, He saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 14 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.
So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and began to serve Him. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick, 16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
so that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: He Himself took our weaknesses and carried our diseases. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."
When Jesus saw large crowds around Him, He gave the order to go to the other side [of the sea]. 18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.
A scribe approached Him and said, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go!" 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
Jesus told him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head." 20 Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
"Lord," another of His disciples said, "first let me go bury my father." 21 Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
But Jesus told him, "Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead." 22 But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
As He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. 23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.
Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping. 24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.
So the disciples came and woke Him up, saying, "Lord, save [us]! We're going to die!" 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, you of little faith?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm. 26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this?-even the winds and the sea obey Him!" 27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"
When He had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met Him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
Suddenly they shouted, "What do You have to do with us, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?" 29 "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"
Now a long way off from them, a large herd of pigs was feeding. 30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.
"If You drive us out," the demons begged Him, "send us into the herd of pigs." 31 The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."
"Go!" He told them. So when they had come out, they entered the pigs. And suddenly the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the water. 32 He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.
Then the men who tended them fled. They went into the city and reported everything-especially what had happened to those who were demon-possessed. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
At that, the whole town went out to meet Jesus. When they saw Him, they begged Him to leave their region. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
