Proverbios 2

1 Hijo mío, si recibes mis palabras, y atesoras mis mandamientos dentro de ti,

1 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,

2 da oído a la sabiduría, inclina tu corazón al entendimiento;

2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—

3 porque si clamas a la inteligencia, y alzas tu voz al entendimiento,

3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,

4 si la buscas como a plata, y la procuras como a tesoros escondidos,

4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,

5 entonces entenderás el temor del SEÑOR, y descubrirás el conocimiento de Dios.

5 then you will understand the fear of the LORDand find the knowledge of God.

6 Porque el SEÑOR da sabiduría, de su boca vienen el conocimiento y la inteligencia.

6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

7 El reserva la prosperidad para los rectos, es escudo para los que andan en integridad,

7 He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

8 guarda las sendas del juicio, y preserva el camino de sus santos.

8 for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.

9 Entonces discernirás justicia y juicio, equidad y todo buen sendero;

9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.

10 porque la sabiduría entrará en tu corazón, y el conocimiento será grato a tu alma;

10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

11 la discreción velará sobre ti, el entendimiento te protegerá,

11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.

12 para librarte de la senda del mal, del hombre que habla cosas perversas;

12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,

13 de los que dejan las sendas de rectitud, para andar por los caminos tenebrosos;

13 who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,

14 de los que se deleitan en hacer el mal, y se regocijan en las perversidades del mal,

14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,

15 cuyas sendas son torcidas, y se extravían en sus senderos.

15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

16 Ella te librará de la mujer extraña, de la desconocida que lisonjea con sus palabras,

16 Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words,

17 la cual deja al compañero de su juventud, y olvida el pacto de su Dios;

17 who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.

18 porque su casa se inclina hacia la muerte, y sus senderos hacia los muertos;

18 Surely her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.

19 todos los que a ella van, no vuelven, ni alcanzan las sendas de la vida.

19 None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.

20 Por tanto andarás en el camino de los buenos, y guardarás las sendas de los justos;

20 Thus you will walk in the ways of the good and keep to the paths of the righteous.

21 porque los rectos morarán en la tierra, y los íntegros permanecerán en ella;

21 For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;

22 pero los impíos serán cortados de la tierra, y los pérfidos serán desarraigados de ella.

22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
