Proverbs 3 LEB/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
My child, do not forget my instruction, and may your heart guard my commands. 1 My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
For length of days, years of life, and peace they shall add to you. 2 for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
May loyal love and truth not forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them upon your heart. 3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
And you shall find favor and good sense in the eyes of God and humankind. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
{Trust Yahweh} with all your heart; do not lean toward your own understanding. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will straighten your paths. 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Yahweh and retreat from evil. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
There shall be healing for your {flesh}, and refreshment for your body. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Honor Yahweh from your substance, and from the firstfruits of all that will come to you, 9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
and your barns shall be full of plenty, and your vats shall burst [with] new wine. 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
Do not despise the discipline of Yahweh, my child. Do not be weary of his reproof 11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke,
because whomever Yahweh will love, he will rebuke, as a father delights in his son. 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
Happy [is] {the one} who finds wisdom, and one who obtains understanding. 13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding,
For her income is better than the income of silver, and her revenue than [that of] gold. 14 for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.
She is more precious than rubies, and all your desires shall not compare with her. 15 She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.
Length of days [is] in her right hand; in her left hand [are] riches and honor. 16 Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways [are] ways of pleasantness, and all her paths [are] peace. 17 Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life for those who seize her; those who take hold of her are considered happy. 18 She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.
Yahweh in wisdom founded the earth; he established the heavens in understanding. 19 By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place;
With his knowledge, depths broke open, and clouds dropped dew. 20 by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.
My child, may they not escape from your {sight}; may you keep sound wisdom and prudence. 21 My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight;
They shall be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. 22 they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.
Then you will walk in the confidence of your ways, and your foot will not stumble. 23 Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble;
If you sit down, you will not panic, and [if] you lie down, then your sleep shall be sweet. 24 when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Do not be afraid of sudden panic, or the storm of wickedness that will come. 25 Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
Yahweh will be {your confidence} and guard your foot from capture. 26 for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.
Do not withhold good from its owner when it is in the power of your hand to do. 27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.
Do not say to your neighbor, "Go and return and tomorrow I will give [it]," {when it is with you}. 28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I'll give it tomorrow"-- when you now have it with you.
Do not plot harm against your neighbor [who] dwells in confidence beside you. 29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you.
Do not quarrel with anyone without cause, when he did not do you harm. 30 Do not accuse a man for no reason-- when he has done you no harm.
Do not envy a man of violence, and do not choose any of his ways, 31 Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways,
for he who is perverse [is] an abomination of Yahweh, but those who are upright [are] his confidence. 32 for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence.
The curse of Yahweh [is] on the house of the wicked, and the abode of the righteous ones he blesses. 33 The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.
With those who scorn, he is scornful, but to those who are humble, he gives favor. 34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.
They will inherit the honor of the wise, but stubborn fools, disgrace. 35 The wise inherit honor, but fools he holds up to shame.
