The Message (MSG) New International Version (NIV)
O my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I'll bless his holy name! 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
O my soul, bless God, don't forget a single blessing! 2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--
He forgives your sins - every one. He heals your diseases - every one. 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
He redeems you from hell - saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy - a paradise crown. 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
He wraps you in goodness - beauty eternal. He renews your youth - you're always young in his presence. 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
God makes everything come out right; he puts victims back on their feet. 6 The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
He showed Moses how he went about his work, opened up his plans to all Israel. 7 He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel:
God is sheer mercy and grace; not easily angered, he's rich in love. 8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
He doesn't endlessly nag and scold, nor hold grudges forever. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
He doesn't treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrongs. 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
As high as heaven is over the earth, so strong is his love to those who fear him. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
And as far as sunrise is from sunset, he has separated us from our sins. 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
As parents feel for their children, God feels for those who fear him. 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
He knows us inside and out, keeps in mind that we're made of mud. 14 for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
Men and women don't live very long; like wildflowers they spring up and blossom, 15 As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field;
But a storm snuffs them out just as quickly, leaving nothing to show they were here. 16 the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
God's love, though, is ever and always, eternally present to all who fear him, Making everything right for them and their children 17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children--
as they follow his Covenant ways and remember to do whatever he said. 18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
God has set his throne in heaven; he rules over us all. He's the King! 19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
So bless God, you angels, ready and able to fly at his bidding, quick to hear and do what he says. 20 Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.
Bless God, all you armies of angels, alert to respond to whatever he wills. 21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.
Bless God, all creatures, wherever you are - everything and everyone made by God. And you, O my soul, bless God! 22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.
