Psalm 104 NLT/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
Praise the LORD, I tell myself; O LORD my God, how great you are! You are robed with honor and with majesty; 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty.
you are dressed in a robe of light. You stretch out the starry curtain of the heavens; 2 He wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent
you lay out the rafters of your home in the rain clouds. You make the clouds your chariots; you ride upon the wings of the wind. 3 and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.
The winds are your messengers; flames of fire are your servants. 4 He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
You placed the world on its foundation so it would never be moved. 5 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.
You clothed the earth with floods of water, water that covered even the mountains. 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.
At the sound of your rebuke, the water fled; at the sound of your thunder, it fled away. 7 But at your rebuke the waters fled, at the sound of your thunder they took to flight;
Mountains rose and valleys sank to the levels you decreed. 8 they flowed over the mountains, they went down into the valleys, to the place you assigned for them.
Then you set a firm boundary for the seas, so they would never again cover the earth. 9 You set a boundary they cannot cross; never again will they cover the earth.
You make the springs pour water into ravines, so streams gush down from the mountains. 10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines; it flows between the mountains.
They provide water for all the animals, and the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 11 They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds nest beside the streams and sing among the branches of the trees. 12 The birds of the air nest by the waters; they sing among the branches.
You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor. 13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers; the earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work.
You cause grass to grow for the cattle. You cause plants to grow for people to use. You allow them to produce food from the earth -- 14 He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-- bringing forth food from the earth:
wine to make them glad, olive oil as lotion for their skin, and bread to give them strength. 15 wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart.
The trees of the LORD are well cared for -- the cedars of Lebanon that he planted. 16 The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
There the birds make their nests, and the storks make their homes in the firs. 17 There the birds make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees.
High in the mountains are pastures for the wild goats, and the rocks form a refuge for rock badgers. 18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats; the crags are a refuge for the coneys.
You made the moon to mark the seasons and the sun that knows when to set. 19 The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down.
You send the darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about. 20 You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl.
Then the young lions roar for their food, but they are dependent on God. 21 The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God.
At dawn they slink back into their dens to rest. 22 The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.
Then people go off to their work; they labor until the evening shadows fall again. 23 Then man goes out to his work, to his labor until evening.
O LORD, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures. 24 How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
Here is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind, both great and small. 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-- living things both large and small.
See the ships sailing along, and Leviathan, which you made to play in the sea. 26 There the ships go to and fro, and the leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.
Every one of these depends on you to give them their food as they need it. 27 These all look to you to give them their food at the proper time.
When you supply it, they gather it. You open your hand to feed them, and they are satisfied. 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.
But if you turn away from them, they panic. When you take away their breath, they die and turn again to dust. 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust.
When you send your Spirit, new life is born to replenish all the living of the earth. 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the LORD last forever! The LORD rejoices in all he has made! 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works--
The earth trembles at his glance; the mountains burst into flame at his touch. 32 he who looks at the earth, and it trembles, who touches the mountains, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
May he be pleased by all these thoughts about him, for I rejoice in the LORD. 34 May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the LORD.
Let all sinners vanish from the face of the earth; let the wicked disappear forever. As for me -- I will praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! 35 But may sinners vanish from the earth and the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD.
