Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
In my distress I called to Yahweh, and he answered me. 1 I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.
"Deliver my life, O Yahweh, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue." 2 Save me, O LORD, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.
What shall be given to you, and what more shall be done to you, deceitful tongue? 3 What will he do to you, and what more besides, O deceitful tongue?
[The] sharpened arrows of a warrior, with burning charcoals from broom trees. 4 He will punish you with a warrior's sharp arrows, with burning coals of the broom tree.
Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech, [that] I dwell among the tents of Kedar. 5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshech, that I live among the tents of Kedar!
Too long my soul has had its dwelling near [one who] hates peace. 6 Too long have I lived among those who hate peace.
I [am for] peace, but when I speak, they [are] for war. 7 I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war.
