O Yahweh, remember with regard to David all his affliction. 1 O LORD, remember David and all the hardships he endured.
How he swore to Yahweh, he vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: 2 He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:
"I will not enter into the tent of my house, I will not go up to the couch of my bed, 3 "I will not enter my house or go to my bed--
I will give no sleep to my eyes, [no] slumber to my eyelids, 4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes, no slumber to my eyelids,
until I find a place for Yahweh, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob." 5 till I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob."
Look, we heard of it in Ephrathah; we found her in the fields of Jaar. 6 We heard it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:
Let us go to his dwelling places; Let us worship at his footstool. 7 "Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool--
Arise, O Yahweh, to your resting place, you and your mighty ark. 8 arise, O LORD, and come to your resting place, you and the ark of your might.
Let your priests clothe themselves with righteousness, and let your faithful sing for joy. 9 May your priests be clothed with righteousness; may your saints sing for joy."
For the sake of your servant David, do not turn away the face of your anointed one. 10 For the sake of David your servant, do not reject your anointed one.
Yahweh swore [in] truth to David; he will not turn back from it. "One from the fruit of your {body} I will set on your throne. 11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he will not revoke: "One of your own descendants I will place on your throne--
If your sons will heed my covenant and my testimonies that I will teach them, their sons also forever will sit on your throne." 12 if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever."
For Yahweh has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation. 13 For the LORD has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling:
"This [is] my resting place forever; here I will dwell, for I have desired it. 14 "This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it--
I will bless its provisions abundantly; I will satisfy its poor with bread. 15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food.
I will also clothe its priests with salvation, and its faithful will shout exuberantly for joy. 16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy.
There I will cause a horn to grow for David; I will set a lamp for my anointed one. 17 "Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on him his crown will flourish." 18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown on his head will be resplendent."
