New International Reader's Version (NIRV) New International Version (NIV)
God, keep me safe. I go to you for safety. 1 Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I said to the Lord, "You are my Lord. Without you, I don't have anything that is good." 2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing."
God's people who live in our land are glorious. I take great delight in them. 3 As for the saints who are in the land, they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight.
Those who run after other gods will have nothing but trouble. I will not pour out offerings of blood to those gods. My lips will not speak their names. 4 The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips.
Lord, everything you have given me is good. You have made my life secure. 5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.
I am very pleased with what you have given me. I am very happy with what I've received from you. 6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the Lord. He gives me good advice. Even at night my heart teaches me. 7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
I know that the LORD is always with me. He is at my right hand. I will always be secure. 8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
So my heart is glad. Joy is on my tongue. My body also will be secure. 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
You will not leave me in the grave. You will not let your faithful one rot away. 10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
You always show me the path that leads to life. You will fill me with joy when I am with you. You will give me endless pleasures at your right hand. 11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
