Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
O God, [the] nations have entered your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple; they have reduced Jerusalem to ruins. 1 O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple, they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.
They have given the bodies of your servants as food for the birds of the heavens, the flesh of your faithful to [the] beasts of [the] earth. 2 They have given the dead bodies of your servants as food to the birds of the air, the flesh of your saints to the beasts of the earth.
They have poured out their blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there was none to bury [them]. 3 They have poured out blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there is no one to bury the dead.
We have become a taunt to our neighbors, a derision and a scorn to those around us. 4 We are objects of reproach to our neighbors, of scorn and derision to those around us.
How long, O Yahweh? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire? 5 How long, O LORD? Will you be angry forever? How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
Pour out your anger on the nations that do not know you, and on [the] kingdoms that do not call on your name, 6 Pour out your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge you, on the kingdoms that do not call on your name;
because they have devoured Jacob and have laid waste his habitation. 7 for they have devoured Jacob and destroyed his homeland.
Do not remember against us former iniquities; let your mercies meet us quickly because we are brought very low. 8 Do not hold against us the sins of the fathers; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need.
Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; and deliver us and forgive our sins for the sake of your name. 9 Help us, O God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name's sake.
Why should the nations say, "Where [is] their God?" Let it be known among the nations before our eyes, [by] the avenging of the blood of your servants that was poured out. 10 Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.
Let the groaning of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your {power}, spare [the] children [appointed to] death. 11 May the groans of the prisoners come before you; by the strength of your arm preserve those condemned to die.
And return to our neighbors sevenfold {upon them} their taunts [with] which they taunted you, O Lord. 12 Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times the reproach they have hurled at you, O Lord.
Then we, your people and the flock of your pasture, we will give thanks to you forever. {Generation after generation} we will tell of your praise. 13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise.
