Now as Peter went here and there among all the believers, he came down also to the saints living in Lydda. 32 As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the saints in Lydda.
There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years, for he was paralyzed. 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years.
Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; get up and make your bed!" And immediately he got up. 34 "Aeneas," Peter said to him, "Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and take care of your mat." Immediately Aeneas got up.
And all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. 35 All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
Now in Joppa there was a disciple whose name was Tabitha, which in Greek is Dorcas. She was devoted to good works and acts of charity. 36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas ), who was always doing good and helping the poor.
At that time she became ill and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in a room upstairs. 37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.
Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, who heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him with the request, "Please come to us without delay." 38 Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, "Please come at once!"
So Peter got up and went with them; and when he arrived, they took him to the room upstairs. All the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was with them. 39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
Peter put all of them outside, and then he knelt down and prayed. He turned to the body and said, "Tabitha, get up." Then she opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up. 40 Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.
He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then calling the saints and widows, he showed her to be alive. 41 He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive.
This became known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. 42 This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.
Meanwhile he stayed in Joppa for some time with a certain Simon, a tanner. 43 Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.
