English Standard Version (ESV) New International Version (NIV)
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you:sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
On account of these the wrath of God is coming. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 8 But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
