The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], on the fifth of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. 1 In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.
On the fifth of the month, (it was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,) 2 On the fifth of the month--it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin--
the word of Jehovah came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Jehovah was there upon him. 3 the word of the LORD came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, by the Kebar River in the land of the Babylonians. There the hand of the LORD was upon him.
And I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the look of glowing brass, out of the midst of the fire. 4 I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north--an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal,
Also out of the midst thereof, the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man. 5 and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was that of a man,
And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings. 6 but each of them had four faces and four wings.
