Afterward he brought me to the gate, the gate facing east. 1 Then the man brought me to the gate facing east,
And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the east; and the sound of his coming was like the sound of many waters; and the earth shone with his glory. 2 and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory.
And the vision I saw was like the vision which I had seen when he came to destroy the city, and like the vision which I had seen by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face. 3 The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when he came to destroy the city and like the visions I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.
As the glory of the LORD entered the temple by the gate facing east, 4 The glory of the LORD entered the temple through the gate facing east.
the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of the LORD filled the temple. 5 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
While the man was standing beside me, I heard one speaking to me out of the temple; 6 While the man was standing beside me, I heard someone speaking to me from inside the temple.
and he said to me, "Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the people of Israel for ever. And the house of Israel shall no more defile my holy name, neither they, nor their kings, by their harlotry, and by the dead bodies of their kings, 7 He said: "Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet. This is where I will live among the Israelites forever. The house of Israel will never again defile my holy name--neither they nor their kings--by their prostitution and the lifeless idols of their kings at their high places.
by setting their threshold by my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them. They have defiled my holy name by their abominations which they have committed, so I have consumed them in my anger. 8 When they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they defiled my holy name by their detestable practices. So I destroyed them in my anger.
Now let them put away their idolatry and the dead bodies of their kings far from me, and I will dwell in their midst for ever. 9 Now let them put away from me their prostitution and the lifeless idols of their kings, and I will live among them forever.
"And you, son of man, describe to the house of Israel the temple and its appearance and plan, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities. 10 "Son of man, describe the temple to the people of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their sins. Let them consider the plan,
And if they are ashamed of all that they have done, portray the temple, its arrangement, its exits and its entrances, and its whole form; and make known to them all its ordinances and all its laws; and write it down in their sight, so that they may observe and perform all its laws and all its ordinances. 11 and if they are ashamed of all they have done, make known to them the design of the temple--its arrangement, its exits and entrances--its whole design and all its regulations and laws. Write these down before them so that they may be faithful to its design and follow all its regulations.
This is the law of the temple: the whole territory round about upon the top of the mountain shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple. 12 "This is the law of the temple: All the surrounding area on top of the mountain will be most holy. Such is the law of the temple.
