See, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice. 1 See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice.
Each will be like a hiding place from the wind, a covert from the tempest, like streams of water in a dry place, like the shade of a great rock in a weary land. 2 Each man will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.
Then the eyes of those who have sight will not be closed, and the ears of those who have hearing will listen. 3 Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.
The minds of the rash will have good judgment, and the tongues of stammerers will speak readily and distinctly. 4 The mind of the rash will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.
A fool will no longer be called noble, nor a villain said to be honorable. 5 No longer will the fool be called noble nor the scoundrel be highly respected.
For fools speak folly, and their minds plot iniquity: to practice ungodliness, to utter error concerning the Lord, to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied, and to deprive the thirsty of drink. 6 For the fool speaks folly, his mind is busy with evil: He practices ungodliness and spreads error concerning the LORD; the hungry he leaves empty and from the thirsty he withholds water.
The villainies of villains are evil; they devise wicked devices to ruin the poor with lying words, even when the plea of the needy is right. 7 The scoundrel's methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.
