Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged. See, the Judge is standing at the doors! 9 Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
As an example of suffering and patience, beloved, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 10 Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
Indeed we call blessed those who showed endurance. You have heard of the endurance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful. 11 As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your "Yes" be yes and your "No" be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation. 12 Above all, my brothers, do not swear--not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned.
Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 13 Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise.
Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Elijah was a human being like us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 17 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
Then he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth yielded its harvest. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and is brought back by another, 19 My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back,
