Jeremiah 33:1-8

MSG

NIV

1 While Jeremiah was still locked up in jail, a second Message from God was given to him:
1 While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time:
2 "This is God's Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God:
2 “This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it—the LORD is his name:
3 'Call to me and I will answer you. I'll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.'
3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
4 "This is what God, the God of Israel, has to say about what's going on in this city, about the homes of both people and kings that have been demolished, about all the ravages of war
4 For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the houses in this city and the royal palaces of Judah that have been torn down to be used against the siege ramps and the sword
5 and the killing by the Chaldeans, and about the streets littered with the dead bodies of those killed because of my raging anger - about all that's happened because the evil actions in this city have turned my stomach in disgust.
5 in the fight with the Babylonians : ‘They will be filled with the dead bodies of the people I will slay in my anger and wrath. I will hide my face from this city because of all its wickedness.
6 "But now take another look. I'm going to give this city a thorough renovation, working a true healing inside and out. I'm going to show them life whole, life brimming with blessings.
6 “ ‘Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.
7 I'll restore everything that was lost to Judah and Jerusalem. I'll build everything back as good as new.
7 I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before.
8 I'll scrub them clean from the dirt they've done against me. I'll forgive everything they've done wrong, forgive all their rebellions.
8 I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me.
