King James Version (KJV) New International Version (NIV)
If ye love me, keep my commandments. 15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever--
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive , because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live , ye shall live also. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?"
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. 24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 25 "All this I have spoken while still with you.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance , whatsoever I have said unto you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth , give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled , neither let it be afraid . 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away , and come again unto you. If ye loved me , ye would rejoice , because I said , I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. 28 "You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
And now I have told you before it come to pass , that, when it is come to pass , ye might believe . 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.
Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh , and hath nothing in me. 30 I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,
