New Living Translation (NLT) New International Version (NIV)
They replied, "You must show us a miraculous sign if you want us to believe in you. What will you do for us? 30 So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?
After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! As the Scriptures say, 'Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.'" 31 Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.' "
Jesus said, "I assure you, Moses didn't give them bread from heaven. My Father did. And now he offers you the true bread from heaven. 32 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
"Sir," they said, "give us that bread every day of our lives." 34 "Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread."
Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again. Those who believe in me will never thirst. 35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
But you haven't believed in me even though you have seen me. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.
However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do what I want. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them to eternal life at the last day. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life -- that I should raise them at the last day." 40 For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
