New Revised Standard (NRS) New International Version (NIV)
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
And once again he bent down and wrote on the ground. 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
When they heard it, they went away, one by one, beginning with the elders; and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
Jesus straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
She said, "No one, sir." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not sin again."] 11 "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." 12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Then the Pharisees said to him, "You are testifying on your own behalf; your testimony is not valid." 13 The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid."
Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid because I know where I have come from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going. 14 Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going.
You judge by human standards; I judge no one. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one.
Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is valid; for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.
In your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is valid. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two men is valid.
