Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
And taking the twelve, he said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written of the Son of man by the prophets will be accomplished. 31 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
For he will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon; 32 He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him.
they will scourge him and kill him, and on the third day he will rise." 33 On the third day he will rise again."
But they understood none of these things; this saying was hid from them, and they did not grasp what was said. 34 The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
