Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
What do you plot against the LORD? He will make a full end; he will not take vengeance twice on his foes. 9 Whatever they plot against the LORD he will bring to an end; trouble will not come a second time.
Like entangled thorns they are consumed, like dry stubble. 10 They will be entangled among thorns and drunk from their wine; they will be consumed like dry stubble.
Did one not come out from you, who plotted evil against the LORD, and counseled villainy? 11 From you, [O Nineveh, ] has one come forth who plots evil against the LORD and counsels wickedness.
Thus says the LORD, "Though they be strong and many, they will be cut off and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more. 12 This is what the LORD says: "Although they have allies and are numerous, they will be cut off and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, [O Judah, ] I will afflict you no more.
And now I will break his yoke from off you and will burst your bonds asunder." 13 Now I will break their yoke from your neck and tear your shackles away."
The LORD has given commandment about you: "No more shall your name be perpetuated; from the house of your gods I will cut off the graven image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile." 14 The LORD has given a command concerning you, [Nineveh]: "You will have no descendants to bear your name. I will destroy the carved images and cast idols that are in the temple of your gods. I will prepare your grave, for you are vile."
Behold, on the mountains the feet of him who brings good tidings, who proclaims peace! Keep your feasts, O Judah, fulfil your vows, for never again shall the wicked come against you, he is utterly cut off. 15 Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Celebrate your festivals, O Judah, and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.
