Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you stand firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel
and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear omen to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved--and that by God.
For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him,
engaged in the same conflict which you saw and now hear to be mine. 30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.
