Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)

Every one who is arrogant is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished. 5 The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.
By loyalty and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil. 6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil.
When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. 7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice. 8 Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.
A man's mind plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps. 9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Inspired decisions are on the lips of a king; his mouth does not sin in judgment. 10 The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth should not betray justice.
A just balance and scales are the LORD's; all the weights in the bag are his work. 11 Honest scales and balances are from the LORD; all the weights in the bag are of his making.
It is an abomination to kings to do evil, for the throne is established by righteousness. 12 Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness.
Righteous lips are the delight of a king, and he loves him who speaks what is right. 13 Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value a man who speaks the truth.
A king's wrath is a messenger of death, and a wise man will appease it. 14 A king's wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will appease it.
