Common English Bible (CEB) New International Version (NIV)
I cry out to you, LORD. You are my rock; don't refuse to hear me. If you won't talk to me, I'll be just like those going down to the pit. 1 To you I call, O LORD my Rock; do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who have gone down to the pit.
Listen to my request for mercy when I cry out to you, when I lift up my hands to your holy inner sanctuary. 2 Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.
Don't drag me off with the wicked and those who do evil; the type who talk nice to their friends while evil thoughts are in their hearts! 3 Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts.
Pay them back for what they've done! Pay them back for their evil deeds! Pay them back for their handiwork! Give back to them exactly what they deserve! 4 Repay them for their deeds and for their evil work; repay them for what their hands have done and bring back upon them what they deserve.
Because they have no regard for what the LORD has done, no regard for his handiwork, God will tear them down and never rebuild! 5 Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD and what his hands have done, he will tear them down and never build them up again.
Bless the LORD because he has listened to my request for mercy! 6 Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy.
