Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Through him we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God. 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Why, one will hardly die for a righteous man--though perhaps for a good man one will dare even to die. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Since, therefore, we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. 10 For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received our reconciliation. 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
