Revised Standard Version (RSV) New International Version (NIV)
The saying is sure. I desire you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to apply themselves to good deeds; these are excellent and profitable to men. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
But avoid stupid controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels over the law, for they are unprofitable and futile. 9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.
As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him, 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him.
knowing that such a person is perverted and sinful; he is self-condemned. 11 You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
When I send Artemas or Tych'icus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicop'olis, for I have decided to spend the winter there. 12 As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there.
Do your best to speed Zenas the lawyer and Apol'los on their way; see that they lack nothing. 13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way and see that they have everything they need.
And let our people learn to apply themselves to good deeds, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not to be unfruitful. 14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.
All who are with me send greetings to you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. 15 Everyone with me sends you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
