1 Corinthians 16

RHE

NIV

1 Now concerning the collections that are made for the saints: as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, so do ye also.
1 Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do.
2 On the first day of the week, let every one of you put apart with himself, laying up what it shall well please him: that when I come, the collections be not then to be made.
2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
3 And when I shall be with you, whomsoever you shall approve by letters, them will I send to carry your grace to Jerusalem.
3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.
4 And if it be meet that I also go, they shall go with me.
4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
5 Now I will come to you, when I shall have passed through Macedonia. For I shall pass through Macedonia.
5 After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you—for I will be going through Macedonia.
6 And with you perhaps I shall abide, or even spend the winter: that you may bring me on my way whithersoever I shall go.
6 Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
7 For I will not see you now by the way: for I trust that I shall abide with you some time, if the Lord permit.
7 For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
8 But I will tarry at Ephesus, until Pentecost.
8 But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost,
9 For a great door and evident is opened unto me: and many adversaries.
9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
10 Now if Timothy come, see that he be with you without fear: for he worketh the work of the Lord, as I also do.
10 When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.
11 Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct ye him on his way in peace, that he may come to me. For I look for him with the brethren.
11 No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
12 And touching our brother Apollo, I give you to understand that I much entreated him to come unto you with the brethren: and indeed it was not his will at all to come at this time. But he will come when he shall have leisure.
12 Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
13 Watch ye: stand fast in the faith: do manfully and be strengthened.
13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
14 Let all your things be done in charity.
14 Do everything in love.
15 And I beseech you, brethren, you know the house of Stephanus, and of Fortunatus, and of Achaicus, that they are the firstfruits of Achaia, and have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints:
15 You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the Lord’s people. I urge you, brothers and sisters,
16 That you also be subject to such and to every one that worketh with us and laboureth.
16 to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it.
17 And I rejoice in the presence of Stephanus and Fortunatus and Achaicus: because that which was wanting on your part, they have supplied.
17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
18 For they have refreshed both my spirit and yours. Know them, therefore, that are such.
18 For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.
19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house, with whom I also lodge.
19 The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.
20 All the brethren salute you. Salute one another with a holy kiss.
20 All the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
21 The salutation of me Paul, with my own hand.
21 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.
22 If any man love not our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha.
22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord !
23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
24 My charity be with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
24 My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
