1 Timothy 2

1 First of all, then, I ask that requests, prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving be made for all people.
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone,
2 Pray for kings and everyone who is in authority so that we can live a quiet and peaceful life in complete godliness and dignity.
2 for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.
3 This is right and it pleases God our savior,
3 This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
4 who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
5 There is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, the human Christ Jesus,
5 For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human,
6 who gave himself as a payment to set all people free. This was a testimony that was given at the right time.
6 who gave himself a ransom for all —this was attested at the right time.
7 I was appointed to be a preacher and apostle of this testimony—I'm telling the truth and I'm not lying! I'm a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
7 For this I was appointed a herald and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 Therefore, I want men to pray everywhere by lifting up hands that are holy, without anger or argument.
8 I desire, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument;
9 In the same way, I want women to enhance their appearance with clothing that is modest and sensible, not with elaborate hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive clothes.
9 also that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, not with their hair braided, or with gold, pearls, or expensive clothes,
10 They should make themselves attractive by doing good, which is appropriate for women who claim to honor God.
10 but with good works, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God.
11 A wife should learn quietly with complete submission.
11 Let a woman learn in silence with full submission.
12 I don't allow a wife to teach or to control her husband. Instead, she should be a quiet listener.
12 I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent.
13 Adam was formed first, and then Eve.
13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve;
14 Adam wasn't deceived, but rather his wife became the one who stepped over the line because she was completely deceived.
14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.
15 But a woman will be kept safe through childbirth provided she continues in faith, love, and holiness, combined with self-control.
15 Yet she will be saved through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and holiness, with modesty.
