1 Corinthians 15

NKJV 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, NIV 1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. NKJV 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. NIV 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. NKJV 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, NIV 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, NKJV 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, NIV 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, NKJV 5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. NIV 5 and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. NKJV 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. NIV 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. NKJV 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. NIV 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, NKJV 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. NIV 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. NKJV 9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. NIV 9 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. NKJV 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. NIV 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. NKJV 11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. NIV 11 Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. NKJV 12 Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? NIV 12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? NKJV 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. NIV 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. NKJV 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. NIV 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. NKJV 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up--if in fact the dead do not rise. NIV 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. NKJV 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. NIV 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. NKJV 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! NIV 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. NKJV 18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. NIV 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. NKJV 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. NIV 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. NKJV 20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. NIV 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. NKJV 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. NIV 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. NKJV 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. NIV 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. NKJV 23 But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. NIV 23 But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. NKJV 24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. NIV 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. NKJV 25 For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. NIV 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. NKJV 26 The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. NIV 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. NKJV 27 For "He has put all things under His feet." But when He says "all things are put under Him," it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. NIV 27 For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. NKJV 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all. NIV 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. NKJV 29 Otherwise, what will they do who are baptized for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why then are they baptized for the dead? NIV 29 Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? NKJV 30 And why do we stand in jeopardy every hour? NIV 30 And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? NKJV 31 I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. NIV 31 I die every day--I mean that, brothers--just as surely as I glory over you in Christ Jesus our Lord. NKJV 32 If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me? If the dead do not rise, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!" NIV 32 If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." NKJV 33 Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits." NIV 33 Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." NKJV 34 Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. NIV 34 Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame. NKJV 35 But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?" NIV 35 But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" NKJV 36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. NIV 36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. NKJV 37 And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain--perhaps wheat or some other grain. NIV 37 When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. NKJV 38 But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body. NIV 38 But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. NKJV 39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. NIV 39 All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. NKJV 40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. NIV 40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. NKJV 41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. NIV 41 The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor. NKJV 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. NIV 42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; NKJV 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. NIV 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; NKJV 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. NIV 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. NKJV 45 And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. NIV 45 So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. NKJV 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. NIV 46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. NKJV 47 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. NIV 47 The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. NKJV 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. NIV 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. NKJV 49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. NIV 49 And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven. NKJV 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. NIV 50 I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. NKJV 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- NIV 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- NKJV 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. NIV 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. NKJV 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. NIV 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. NKJV 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." NIV 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." NKJV 55 "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" NIV 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" NKJV 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. NIV 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. NKJV 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. NIV 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. NKJV 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. NIV 58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
