1 Samuel 21

1 Y vino David a Nob, a Ahimelec sacerdote; y Ahimelec salió a recibirlo con miedo, y le dijo: ¿Cómo <I>vienes</I> tú solo, y nadie contigo?

2 Y respondió David al sacerdote Ahimelec: El rey me encomendó un negocio, y me dijo: Nadie sepa cosa alguna de este negocio a que yo te envío, y que yo te he mandado; y yo <I>les</I> señalé a los criados un cierto lugar.

3 Ahora, pues, ¿qué tienes a mano? Dame cinco panes en mi mano, o lo que se hallare.

4 Y el sacerdote respondió a David, y dijo: No tengo pan común a la mano; solamente tengo pan sagrado; mas lo daré si los criados se han guardado a lo menos de mujeres.

5 Y David respondió al sacerdote, y le dijo: Cierto las mujeres nos han sido vedadas desde ayer y desde anteayer cuando salí, y los vasos de los mozos fueron santos, aunque el camino es profano; cuanto más que hoy será santificado con los vasos.

6 Así el sacerdote le dio el pan sagrado, porque allí no había otro pan que los panes de la proposición, los cuales habían sido quitados de delante del SEÑOR, para que se pusiesen panes calientes el día que <I>los otros</I> fueron quitados.

7 Aquel día estaba allí uno de los siervos de Saúl cumpliendo <I>algún voto</I> delante del SEÑOR, el nombre del cual era Doeg, idumeo, principal de los pastores de Saúl.

8 Y David dijo a Ahimelec: ¿No tienes aquí a mano lanza o espada? Porque no tomé en mi mano mi espada ni mis armas, por cuanto el mandamiento del rey era apremiante.

9 Y el sacerdote respondió: El cuchillo de Goliat el filisteo, que tú venciste en el valle del Alcornoque, está aquí envuelto en un velo detrás del efod; si tú quieres tomarlo, tómalo; porque aquí no hay otro sino ese. Y dijo David: No hay otro tal; dámelo.

10 Y levantándose David aquel día, huyó de la presencia de Saúl, y se fue a Aquis rey de Gat.

11 Y los siervos de Aquis le dijeron: ¿No <I>es</I> éste David, el rey de la tierra? ¿No <I>es</I> éste a quien cantaban en los corros, diciendo: Hirió Saúl sus miles, y David sus diez miles?

12 Y David puso en su corazón estas palabras, y tuvo gran temor de Aquis rey de Gat.

13 Y mudó su habla delante de ellos, y fingió ser loco entre las manos de ellos, y escribía en las portadas de las puertas, dejando correr su saliva por su barba.

14 Y dijo Aquis a sus siervos: He aquí, estáis viendo un hombre demente; ¿por qué lo habéis traído a mí?

15 ¿Acaso me faltan locos, para que hayáis traído éste que hiciese de loco delante de mí? ¿había de venir éste a mi casa?

New International Version NIV

1 David went to Nob, to Ahimelek the priest. Ahimelek trembled when he met him, and asked, “Why are you alone? Why is no one with you?”

2 David answered Ahimelek the priest, “The king sent me on a mission and said to me, ‘No one is to know anything about the mission I am sending you on.’ As for my men, I have told them to meet me at a certain place.

3 Now then, what do you have on hand? Give me five loaves of bread, or whatever you can find.”

4 But the priest answered David, “I don’t have any ordinary bread on hand; however, there is some consecrated bread here—provided the men have kept themselves from women.”

5 David replied, “Indeed women have been kept from us, as usual whenever I set out. The men’s bodies are holy even on missions that are not holy. How much more so today!”

6 So the priest gave him the consecrated bread, since there was no bread there except the bread of the Presence that had been removed from before the LORD and replaced by hot bread on the day it was taken away.

7 Now one of Saul’s servants was there that day, detained before the LORD; he was Doeg the Edomite, Saul’s chief shepherd.

8 David asked Ahimelek, “Don’t you have a spear or a sword here? I haven’t brought my sword or any other weapon, because the king’s mission was urgent.”

9 The priest replied, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here; it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want it, take it; there is no sword here but that one.” David said, “There is none like it; give it to me.”

10 That day David fled from Saul and went to Achish king of Gath.

11 But the servants of Achish said to him, “Isn’t this David, the king of the land? Isn’t he the one they sing about in their dances: “ ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands’?”

12 David took these words to heart and was very much afraid of Achish king of Gath.

13 So he pretended to be insane in their presence; and while he was in their hands he acted like a madman, making marks on the doors of the gate and letting saliva run down his beard.

14 Achish said to his servants, “Look at the man! He is insane! Why bring him to me?

15 Am I so short of madmen that you have to bring this fellow here to carry on like this in front of me? Must this man come into my house?”
