1 Timothy 2

CJB 1 First of all, then, I counsel that petitions, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all human beings, NIV 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- CJB 2 including kings and all in positions of prominence; so that we may lead quiet and peaceful lives, being godly and upright in everything. NIV 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. CJB 3 This is what God, our Deliverer, regards as good; this is what meets his approval. NIV 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, CJB 4 He wants all humanity to be delivered and come to full knowledge of the truth. NIV 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. CJB 5 For God is one;a and there is but one Mediator between God and humanity, Yeshua the Messiah, himself human, NIV 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, CJB 6 who gave himself as a ransom on behalf of all, thus providing testimony to God's purpose at just the right time. NIV 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time. CJB 7 This is why I myself was appointed a proclaimer, even an emissary - I am telling the truth, not lying! - a trustworthy and truthful teacher of the Goyim. NIV 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. CJB 8 Therefore, it is my wish that when the men pray, no matter where, they should lift up hands that are holy - they should not become angry or get into arguments. NIV 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. CJB 9 Likewise, the women, when they pray, should be dressed modestly and sensibly in respectable attire, not with elaborate hairstyles and gold jewelry, or pearls, or expensive clothes. NIV 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, CJB 10 Rather, they should adorn themselves with what is appropriate for women who claim to be worshipping God, namely, good deeds. NIV 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. CJB 11 Let a woman learn in peace, fully submitted; NIV 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. CJB 12 but I do not permit a woman to teach a man or exercise authority over him; rather, she is to remain at peace. NIV 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. CJB 13 For Adam was formed first, then Havah. NIV 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. CJB 14 Also it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who, on being deceived, became involved in the transgression. NIV 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. CJB 15 Nevertheless, the woman will be delivered through childbearing, provided that she continues trusting, loving and living a holy life with modesty. NIV 15 But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
