1 Timothy 2

RHE 1 I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all men: NIV 1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- RHE 2 For kings and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity. NIV 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. RHE 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, NIV 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, RHE 4 Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. NIV 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. RHE 5 For there is one God: and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus: NIV 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, RHE 6 Who gave himself a redemption for all, a testimony in due times. NIV 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time. RHE 7 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher and an apostle (I say the truth, I lie not), a doctor of the Gentiles in faith and truth. NIV 7 And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle--I am telling the truth, I am not lying--and a teacher of the true faith to the Gentiles. RHE 8 I will therefore that men pray in every place, lifting up pure hands, without anger and contention. NIV 8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. RHE 9 In like manner, women also in decent apparel: adorning themselves with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire: NIV 9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, RHE 10 But, as it becometh women professing godliness, with good works. NIV 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. RHE 11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. NIV 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. RHE 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to use authority over the man: but to be in silence. NIV 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. RHE 13 Adam was first formed; then Eve. NIV 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. RHE 14 And Adam was not seduced; but the woman, being seduced, was in the transgression. NIV 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. RHE 15 Yet she shall be saved through child bearing; if she continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety. NIV 15 But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
